Use the exact model as the dimension reference
Begin with the complete product model shown in a verified catalogue, product page or current factory document. Similar models in one design family may use different layouts, returns, cabinets or supporting pieces, so dimensions from a related image should not be copied to the selected model.
A number inside a model suffix is an identifier unless the product source explicitly defines it as a measurement. Keep the model code and the confirmed length, width and height in separate fields on the RFQ and quotation.
- Complete model number and suffix
- Source document or verified product page
- Length, width and height with units
- Selected size when several options are listed
- Unknown measurements left for confirmation
Measure the complete installed footprint
For an L-shaped desk, record the main desk, return depth and return orientation. For a complete office set, separate the desk footprint from the back cabinet, side cabinet, coffee table and any other supporting item. Do not treat a styled room image as a scaled plan.
Check chair pull-back space, door swing, cabinet opening clearance, wall skirting, floor boxes and circulation. The product size may fit within the room while the complete working and access zone does not.
- Main desk and return footprint
- Left or right orientation
- Back and side cabinet position
- Chair and visitor clearance
- Doors, sockets, columns and circulation
Approve dimensions on the commercial revision
Before production, connect the selected model and size to the quotation, drawing, finish approval and order revision. If the catalogue provides several standard sizes, the commercial document must identify the one being ordered rather than repeating the whole option list.
For accessories or office-set pieces without independent published dimensions, request a current drawing or written confirmation. Record any buyer tolerance, cable-access position, site restriction and packing limit on the same approval trail.
- Selected model and one confirmed order size
- Approved drawing or written confirmation
- Finish and component schedule
- Site, lift and doorway restrictions
- Order revision and approval date

Prepare an RFQ ↗Frequently asked questions
Can office furniture dimensions be estimated from a product photo?
No. Use a verified model source, current quotation or approved drawing. A photo does not provide a reliable scale or complete installed footprint.
Does a number in an office furniture model suffix always show the size?
No. Treat the suffix as part of the model identifier unless the current product source explicitly defines it as a measurement. Confirm dimensions separately.
What dimensions are needed for an L-shaped office desk?
Record the complete main-desk and return footprint, height, return orientation and nearby clearance. Confirm the selected size for the exact model in the quotation or drawing.
